About Us

Hot Mama Ink was born out of a desire to fuse fashion with the celebration of mothers and motherhood.  Founder Andrea Jarrell wanted combine her rock-n-roll style with her new found role of "mother."  "I wanted comfortable stylish active wear which not only invoked a rock-n-roll flair but allowed me to proudly display my badge of motherhood."

In pursuit of this goal, Andrea put aside her career in real estate development to start a new company along with friend and business partner, Rachel Madewell.  Hot Mama Ink was born.  The two collaborated with well known tattoo artists, Zulu and Jackie Dunn, to create one of a kind art work designed exclusively for Hot Mama Ink.  The artists' artwork, whose other work adorns the bodies of such celebrities as Christina Aguillera , Janet Jackson, Dennis Rodman and Bruce Willis, is now inked on the soft cotton fabric of Hot Mama Ink active wear.

After igniting in the spring of 2006, Hot Mama Ink offers women the ideal mix of style, comfort and the celebrations of motherhood.  Rachel Madewell, herself a mother of two (100 pound plus puppies) is quick to point out "You don't have to be a mother in the traditional sense to find meaning and beauty in the artwork or to wear the clothes.  Whether you are a mom to kids or pets, or whether you are celebrating you own mother, you will be drawn to the Hot Mama Ink line."

The soft cotton tees, yoga pants, and hoodies have a become a hot commodity for women of all ages and stages, mom or not, even grandmas.   Hot Mama Ink is quickly filling the closets of celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Denise Richards, Jessica Alba and Heidi Klum to name a few.

Rachel Madewell, Partner
Passionate for clothing at a very young age, Rachel began working in retail at the age of 16. Her ability to hone in on the edgiest styles and latest looks led her to receive numerous top salesperson awards throughout her retail career. After moving from Northern California to San Diego in 1995, a mutual friend introduced her to Andrea and they hit it off immediately. Rachel's love of fashion, coupled with Andrea's frustration with the current state of post-partum clothing, prompted them to merge retail and motherhood via Hot Mama Ink.

Rachel is the proud mother of two. Her baby girl Lucy, although only a year old, is already 120 pounds. Her boy Ryder is about 100 pounds. (Both are American Bulldog and English Mastiff mixed breeds. Chasing after her pups requires comfortable, easy fashion, and Rachel loves how HOT MAMA INK mixes fashion with function.
